Bloodborne PS5 PC ports discussed

FromSoftware‘s Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that the studio would love a Bloodborne PC port (or even a PS5 remake) but it’s not in his hands and it’s “not his place to talk.” One can’t help but feel a bit sorry for Miyazaki as he continues to be quizzed about the game, only for him to reiterate that there’s nothing that he can personally do.

PS5 and PC players puzzled by Until Dawn remake as Sony ignores Bloodborne requests

In a somewhat bizarre move, Sony has decided to offer PS5 and PC players a remake of Until Dawn, which we have yet to see fans request. What players have requested repeatedly, however, is either a Bloodborne remake or a sequel.

Speaking to PC Gamer, Miyazaki said he’s not the only one who would love to see Bloodborne reach more players. Apparently, FromSoftware devs are all on board. Miyazaki stopped short of saying anything else, adding that he’ll “get in trouble” for doing so. But it’s pretty obvious that IP owner Sony is the one that gets to decide the future of Bloodborne.

“I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port,” Miyazaki said. “If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to.”

Dragami Games has unveiled a new Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP trailer and a release date for the cult classic’s remaster.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will be released digitally on September 25, 2024 on PS5.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a remake of the original Lollipop Chainsaw (2012), on which Yoshimi Yasuda lead development as producer. RePOP is a definitive version of the game which leaves the story unchanged, with the focus on quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content.

Watch the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP trailer below.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will also release a physical edition worldwide. Further details are to be announced at a later date.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Quality of Life Improvements

  • The game’s resolution has been increased to full HD, and load times have been greatly shortened.
  • The chainsaw action has been sped up with the introduction of the Chained Hits Hunting system, in which chaining multiple hits in succession increases the player’s attack speed.
  • The input timings for Combo Actions have been adjusted, to better fit players’ expectations.
  • Chainsaw Blaster action has been improved with the addition of auto-lock and auto-fire modes that can be toggled. And an increased maximum ammo count of 99.
  • The player can now immediately use Combo Actions at the start of the game.

Additional Gameplay Content

  • Separate from Original Mode, RePOP adds “RePOP mode,” which uses a unique and colorful pop art-inspired art style for damage effects.
  • Unique new chainsaws with distinctly different features have been added.
  • There are 30 costumes, more than the original game’s costume count. Combined with the addition of 4 new hair colors and 4 new chainsaws, this adds up to 750 different possible combinations.
  • Juliet’s Room has been expanded with more features.
  • A “Time Attack” mode with ranking feature has been added.

Tomb Raider Lara Croft coming to Dead by Daylight

The next Dead by Daylight survivor arrives in July, though developer Behaviour Interactive hasn’t revealed their identity. However, a prominent leaker suggests the new character will be Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft.

What would the Dead by Daylight Tomb Raider crossover include?

The leaker, Gumpy, didn’t say much about Lara Croft as a Dead by Daylight survivor. However, we know from the Year 9 roadmap that there won’t be any new Killers or maps in July. The next killer arrives in August, and the next new map will be in December. Still, new content is always good, and Tomb Raider fans might appreciate Lara’s inclusion.

News of the Tomb Raider crossover comes from a prominent leaker called Gumpy. This leak was just a short comment under a recent developer livestream. However, Gumpy’s leaks are highly trusted in the Dead by Daylight community. Gumpy previously leaked advanced information about the Unknown and the Dungeons and Dragons and Castlevania Crossovers. Therefore, it seems likely that Lara Croft will be the next new Dead by Daylight survivor.

Of course, one question fans might have is which version of the character this will be. Crystal Dynamics unveiled its “unified” Lara Croft in February, combining elements from both the original and 2013 design. However, as fans pointed out, reboot Lara is probably the best fit for a Dead by Daylight survivor.

As one Reddit user pointed out, the 2013 game drew some inspiration from the 2006 horror film The Descent. A scene in the game where Lara Croft is swimming through a river of blood comes directly from that movie. While 2013’s Tomb Raider still isn’t exactly a horror game, it certainly has its moments and definitely puts Lara through the wringer.

Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Release Date

The Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition PS5 trophy list has gone live on the PlayStation servers, suggesting the game’s release date could be soon.

Ubisoft had previously said the game’s “official launch is set for early 2024,” which means they technically have until the end of June to hit that target. We were meant to hear more about the game in the new year but this hasn’t happened, so there’s a chance the release date has slipped slightly.

The Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition Trophy List

The game was leaked on the Xbox store at the end of November 2023 and its description promised there would be updated trophies. The good news is that while Beyond Good & Evil HD didn’t have a Platinum trophy on PS3, the 20th Anniversary Edition trophy list revealed on Exophase does indeed have a Platinum trophy.

PlayStation exclusive deals

Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently took aim at Sony over its PlayStation content exclusive deals, which has drawn the attention of former PlayStation executive Shawn Layden. Spencer, while talking about Call of Duty, referred to Sony’s past content deals with the franchise as “slimy platform things.”

Spencer irked by PlayStation exclusive deals but Xbox has a history of them

Layden didn’t have any words to share, but did use gifs on X to communicate his thoughts very clearly.

Layden was also seen interacting with quite a few tweets that were either critical of Spencer’s comments or seemed amused by Layden’s response.

Many have argued that Spencer was making a general reference to platform exclusive deals, but he was specifically talking in context of Call of Duty’s 10 years of content arrangements with PlayStation.

Although Spencer has been a huge advocate of dropping exclusives, Microsoft continues to enagage in exclusivity wars, so his comments are a little baffling. Even if we ignore the Xbox 360 era, Rise of the Tomb Raider was famously taken off of PS4 for a whole year while Spencer was in charge. Games like Starfield and Redfall were in development for the PS5 when Spencer-led Xbox bought ZeniMax and pulled them off of Sony’s platform, and so on.

Let’s not forget Matt Booty discussing spending Sony “out of business.”

Final Fantasy 9 Remake and Turok leaked by EpicDB

Update:

Epic Games has addressed the leak, stating that it has released an update “so third-party tools can’t surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog.”

Original story:

EpicDB, a new SteamDB equivalent for Epic Games Store, has ended up leaking Final Fantasy 9 remake, Turok, and scores of other unannounced titles. Some of the leaked games are PC ports of PlayStation games while others are listed as code names that fans are currently deciphering. The scale of the leak is being likened to that of the infamous Nvidia GeForce Now leak.

Final Fantasy 9 Remake will apparently come with DLC, Turok remains a mystery

The list of leaked code names (via Reddit, ResetEra) come with images that pretty much give away some of the games. Final Fantasy 9 remake’s entry — code named Momo — lists what appears to be pre-order DLC including “Tetra Master Starter Pack” and “Thief’s Knives.” An entry for Final Fantasy 16‘s PC port is code named Skobeloff.

As for Turok, an entry for the title was found under Saber Interactive’s label, but we can’t tell yet whether it’s new game or some sort of a remaster/remake.

Sony Interactive Entertainment label has something code named Utah, the image for which reveals that it’s a PC port of The Last of Us Part II. Then, there’s something code named Kondo that people are speculating to be either Rise of the Ronin or recently-released Ghost of Tsushima PC port.

SIE also has entries for two projects code named Carrack and Rhode Island. While the latter has not been deciphered, Carrack is thought to be Uncharted‘s PC port because it comes with an image of a 14th century ship.

EpicDB is currently down, presumably to fix the blooper.

Former Microsoft executive Mike Ybarra has said that the sheer size of Microsoft Gaming now warrants having some Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms. Ybarra’s comments follow confirmation by Xbox boss Phil Spencer that more of the company’s first-party games will go multiplatform in the future.

Microsoft to become the world’s largest publisher with Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo

Ybarra, who spent two decades at Microsoft, acknowledged concerns about the future of Xbox hardware by fans once more first-party games go multiplatform. However, he’s of the view that Microsoft Gaming is beyond the point of hardware sales, and needs to focus on its ambition to be the world’s largest publisher.

“You have to put emotion aside and focus on the teams, players, and business – and make hard decisions,” Ybarra said. “Given the size of Microsoft Gaming now, it’s just not sustainable to not be embracing all platforms. They are taking their players in this journey, and that is not easy, but this is the right plan for their teams and players.”

Microsoft hasn’t said which games it plans to release on PlayStation and Nintendo going forward, but rumor has it that Halo is one of the first-party franchises going multiplatform.

PS Plus Premium classics trophies

While Sony has been making good on its promise to add trophies for PS Plus Premium classics, subscribers have been surprised by retroactive trophy patches for third-party games. First-party classics have been launching with trophy lists but third parties were allowed to skip the extra step.

List of PS Plus Premium classics that have received trophies

Starting today, PS Plus Premium subscribers will get access to three PS2 games as part of their catalog: Tomb Raider Legend, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. While we expected Sly Cooper to get trophy support, third-party games Tomb Raider Legend and Star Wars: The Clone Wars also came with trophies this time.

What’s more is that previously-released third-party classics have been updated with trophy lists, as picked up by PSNProfiles. The recipients of the patches are: Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, Toy Story 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.

This is quite a significant development, and gives us hope that other third-party classics, like Tekken, will also receive trophies eventually. Sony had previously said that trophy support has been left to developers’ discretion.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed for more patches and keep our readers posted.
